For your sniffles....

A while ago I saw a photo of a travel tissue holder somewhere (can't remember where), and thought it was a good idea. So last week end I got my scraps of fabric, scissors and sewing machine out to make my own. As soon as I had figured out how big to make them, it was such fun that I made up a bunch...
Some of these has been used as teacher gifts for Maja's teachers. As for the rest of them, if I don't need any more small christmas presents, I might put them in my Etsy shop, so keep an eye out if you want one..... hehe.... Haven't figured out how much to take for them yet though... any suggestions??

I just wanted to share this experience....

Read about the joys of photographing your children for christmas over on my family blog. Don't do the same mistake as me and leave it too late.... (you'll understand what I'm talking about if you read it).

Ooops.... cat hat

I just realized I haven't blogged the previous hat I made for Maja.... oooops.... so I thought I'd at least share a picture.

About a year ago, Maja really wanted a pussycat-hat. With ears and fur..... so I made her one. I can't remember how anymore though.... This hat has been used LOADS! I think it's the only hat she's used since I made it.

Smock hat

It's been almost a year since I knitted a hat for Maja, so when I saw this hat on Bente B's blog I just had to make her one. And knowing me.... I can't wait till tomorrow before I start, so I had a rummage through my wool stash to find something to knit with. My stash is really small at the moment, mostly small balls of sock wool, leftovers that my MIL sent me. But I found some mohairish yarn. I knew it wouldn't be enough of the main colour, so I have mixed and matched different thicknesses and needlesizes to get enough for a whole hat. It didn't turn out too bad. Maja loves it, and that's the main thing. She even has the hat on when she goes to bed at night.....

The hat is supposed to have some of the vertical rows pulled together and decorated with beads but Maja was so eager to start using it, that she didn't want any beads on it. I said she could start using her hat without the beads and I could put them on later, but I don't think she wants any beads on. That's what she says anyway. I might try and talk her into me putting on a few...... we'll see.

Gingerbread....

A couple of weeks back, a group of Norwegian friends met at Malin and Charlie's house to make gingerbread cookies. We did this last year as well, and it's really good fun. Just thought I'd share this yummy picture with you all.... It's of my cookies in the tin.... or more like Maja's cookies. She baked and decorated them all. And they taste deeeeelicious!

Christmas presents....

The reason I don't have that much in my Etsy shop yet is that I've been busy making christmas presents..... I know I should have started earlier with my presents, but I didn't really know that we were going to be so short on "pennies" this christmas..... so I thought why not get the ole sewing machine out and make some prezzies myself and save the pennies for stupid things like food and electricity..... hehe.... sooooo I'm giving a few home made prezzies this year. Obviously, I can't post pictures of these things yet, but a post without pictures is a bit boring, so here are some teasers..... hehe..... enjoy!

Etsy

I've just opened my own Etsy-shop! Yay!! Haven't got a lot in it yet, but I'm working on a few more things, and I'll start for "real" as soon as christmas is over and done with..... I know I should really have had a lot of stuff in there BEFORE christmas so people could buy stuff from me for presents.... but.... achhh.... Anyway, there's a link on the right hand side if you want to go and have a look (and maybe buy something????;) ....)

These are the things I've already put in my shop:

Some Hardanger embroidered Needle books

A green stripy bag

and a childrens fleece hat

Advent....

It's finished!!! I know I haven't really kept you updated on this one... but I didn't really feel like posting christmas stuff just after christmas.... Anyway.... Maja's advent calendar is now finished. It turned out pretty good, I think, with cross stitched borders directly onto the fabric and not on aida bands as the chart said.

I managed to get hold of some small rings which I sewed on to hang small parcels from (instead of making pockets from aida band).

And this is it! All set for counting down to christmas eve.... I haven't been able find any suitable bellpull ends for it, so I've used a long knitting needle through the top... It'll have to do this year....

Barbie again

Just some more Barbie stuff... Barbie didn't have a jacket, so of course I had to make her one.

I found the pattern for this one on that Swedish site again. I can't remember what number this pattern is. The jacket is supposed to have a hood as well, but Maja was too eager to start using the jacket so I never managed to start knitting the hood. Guess I could always do it later if I feel like it....

Scrap booking

I recently discovered scrap booking and this is my first attempt...

This LO is only 6x6 (15x15 cm), but that was a good size for my first attempt. The reason I chose this format is that I have this album with 6x6 pages in page protectors. I've got two of them, and the plan was to make one LO for each of my girls every month.... ehhh... well, as I said, that was the PLAN... All I've managed to do is this one for March... so I'm kind of a little bit behind... Next I'm going to make a page for Susie. I think I'll start from last month and work my way back... well... that's a plan, anyway....

A dress for Susie

I knitted a dress for Susie a few months back, and just realized I'd forgot to put it on here... I've had this pattern and wanted to knit it for ages, but haven't had anyone to knit for... until Susie came. Even though she's worn it on several occasions, I haven't managed to get a picture of the dress on her... Anyway, here are some pics:

Here I've just started. I had some problems in the beginning because there was a fault in the pattern... I think I knitted this little bit here two or three times.

The skirt is finished:

This is the top before I knitted the edges around the arms and neck:

And finally the finished dress...

I also knitted some bootees to go with it, but haven't got a picture of them either. I will try to get a pic with Susie wearing the dress and socks...
edit: Why does the pictures not get bigger when I click on them????

Wedding card

I had to make a wedding card quickly this morning. I didn't have time to come up with a completely new card, so I just used the same lay out as my previous card (the birthday card for Maja in a earlier post). It's quite interesting to see how when I changed just a few elements how I got a completely different card.

This one is for Malin and Charlie. Congratulations!!

Knitting for Barbie

Maja got a couple of Barbie dolls for her birthday.... They neeeed clothes (uhh.... sort of... or maybe it's just me wanting to make some...)! I was originally wanting to sew some clothes for them, but I couldn't find any free sewing patterns for Barbie clothes on the net, but there was plenty of knitting patterns. And since I rather like knitting... why not?? I've knittet two dresses. I found the pattern for these on this Swedish site (it has lots of patterns in english as well). There's lots and lots of really nice clothes here. It was kind of hard to choose, but I let Maja help me choose seeing as it is her that will play with them. They are both made with some old knitting wool that I found in my drawer of wool.

This is the first one I made (pattern no 160).

And here is the second (pattern 152).

If anyone knows about a place I can get hold of sewing patterns for Barbie, I would be grateful if you left a wee comment...

Happy birthday

My daughter, Maja, is 5 years old tomorrow. I've made her a quick card... really quick. Didn't have time for anything fancy.

Gym bag

My eldest daughter Maja started school last month, and every belonging has to be named. So for her gym bag I cross stitched this little name tag.

Well... this is just a quick thingy.... will try to update a bit later.

Nesting instinct???

OK, so I have been busy making ATCs lately... I've heard about people having this nesting instinct where they clean the house etc just before they have their baby.... maybe this is what I do.... Make atcs.... 'cos I know I won't have much time after the baby is born....??? Only 2 1/2 weeks to go now.....
